Week 4 - Day 5 - Bonus Activity (ENDING)

Image result for Summer learning journey

Sadly, the Summer Learning Journey (SLJ) is coming to an end. I would like to say a huge thank you to Rachel Williamson for creating this Amazing Program. I would also like to thank all the Summer Learning Journey team for helping students from my previous school Panmure Bridge School. I have been enjoying this summer with the fun activities that you have created this year. I would also like to join Next journey. Good luck to the students who Participated in the Summer learning Journey. I learned a lot from the Summer learning Journey, I learned that Countdown is not using plastic bags because the people throwing bags in the beaches. One thing that surprised me was that a lot of people in the Manaiakalani Cluster took part. One thing that upset me was emailing Rachel for help and nothing concerned me. One thing that I and my family can do, moving forward, to help protect our natural environment is to place all different rubbish we find in a separate bin which means 1 bin filled with plastic bottles, 1 bin filled up with papers and 1 bin filled up with cardboard.

  1. Kia Ora Joshua!

My name is Jordan, and like Sophie, I am a Cluster Manager for the Summer Learning Journey programme— I work in the Kootuitui cluster (Papakura).
Congratulations for finishing the programme, you should be extremely proud of yourself! I agree with you, the Summer Learning Journey is an amazing programme— do you feel ready to launch back in to school?
I'm pleased to read a little bit about what you've taken from the programme— single-use plastic items are terrible for our environment because, as you've mentioned, they do end up in the ocean. They actually call it the 'Great Pacific Garbage Patch' which is in the north central Pacific Ocean.
Did you know that there is more plastic in the ocean than plankton? It gives us a lot to think about doesn't it?
I'm really happy to read that your whānau are separating your rubbish, good job to you and to them!

We're all really proud of you, Joshua, well done!

    Cheers,

    Jordan
