Week 4 - Day 1 - Activity 2

I think the Taniwha doesn't exist because watching those videos doesn't look real. I think its fake because the artworks are painted and there's no picture that is real. I also think its fake because I don't trust any articles.

In this activity, we had to write a short description of Taniwha. We had to write about if it exists or it doesn't. I choose it doesn't because the pictures are painted and these no real life photos.

  1. Greetings Joshua,
You have being working hard in the summer learning journey! I think its real because in the water it was making large bubbles but I also agree with you. Joshua tell me 5 reasons why you think it isn't real?

    Keep it up Joshua!

  3. Hello Joshua! I agree that the Taniwha doesn't really exist. You are right, there are different drawings of the Taniwha and none of them are the official, so it's hard to even think of what it looks like. Is there any other creature or being that you think doesn't exist? Keep it up!

  4. Hi Joshua,
Well done on finishing this Summer Learning Journey activity. I also think that the Taniwha is fake because there is no real evidence of it being around. Why do you think people think they have seen a Taniwha? Keep up the excellent work.

  5. Hey Joshua,

Thank you for sharing your honest opinion on whether you think Taniwha is real or not. I think you have mentioned a valid point by saying that there are no real-life images. This could definitely be one of your reasons for backing up your argument.

In Māori mythology, Taniwha are beings that live in deep ocean to guard the sea. As much as some of these mythical creatures sound unreal, it has a very important role in a lot of cultures. For example, in Korea (where I'm from), we think of tigers as guardians that drives away evil spirits and a sacred creature that brings good luck.

Did you learn about myths and legends at school? Do you know about any other mythical creatures?

    Ka kite,
    Susie :)
