Week 1 - Day 2 - Bonus Activity

In this Activity, this was a Math problem we had to explain. A Cactus are able to survive on as little as 3 millimeters (ML) of water a day. To keep the Cactus alive we must give 3ML of water every day. Over one full year, how much water will you need to give your cactus a plant? To solve this problem I searched how much days in a year. A total of 365 days came up. Then I times (X) the 365 with 3ml. The answer I probably think is 1095ml

  1. Hi Joshua,

What an amazing post. The image sure looks amazing. I got exactly the same answer as you, which was 1095 ml. I used the same formula too, which was 365 days x 3ml each day. It then equalled to 1095ml. Nice thinking.

    AWESOME:)

  2. Kia ora Joshua,

Congratulations on completing this maths problem. It is always a good idea to write down the strategy you've used to get to the answer so that you have something to come back to if your final answer is wrong.

1,095 ml is the correct answer! Did you use long multiplication to solve this problem? If you had to convert this answer to litres (L), what would the answer be?

    Bye for now,
    Susie

  3. Hi Joshua,
Well done on finishing this Summer Learning Journey activity. Your working out is great. I can't believe that a cactus manages to survive on just 3mls of water a day. Keep up the excellent work Joshua.
